Location

Open the driver's door and look at the far left end of the dashboard, level with the bonnet release handle. Pull the plastic end cap towards you to expose the fuse rows mounted behind it.

The A6 C5 uses this panel for most body and comfort electronics; quattro models and those with air suspension add extra relays nearby for the all-wheel-drive and level-control systems. A second box in the engine bay near the battery carries the maxi fuses and main relays. Confirm exact amperages against the diagram printed on the cover, since equipment level changed ratings on several circuits. Fuse assignment varies by equipment level and production year. Always confirm with the label on the fuse box cover or the owner's manual.
